Thanks to you, Salvation Army helped 2,800 families

For more than 30 years, Christmas Bureau Distribution has been a tangible way that our community comes together at Christmas to make sure that families who are struggling financially are still able to have food on their tables and gifts for their children. On Dec. 22 at the Oncenter,Here's How To Ditch The Lousy Gifts You Received Over The Holidays,The Salvation Army and United Way were joined by dozens of community partners and hundreds of volunteers who were able to make Christmas special for more than 2,800 families and 7,300 children.

The Salvation Army and United Way are blessed with a dedicated group of community partners who work all year long to make Christmas Bureau Distribution a reality. These partners include The Hayner Hoyt Corp., Wegmans Food Markets, The Post Standard/Old Newsboys, Delaney Moving and Storage, 174th Fighter Wing, Oncenter Complex, Food Bank of Central New York, Catholic Charities of Onondaga County, Success by Six, United Parcel Service, Bank of America, Onondaga County Department of Social Services, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Syracuse Fire Fighters, United States Marines/Toys for Tots and the InterReligious Food Consortium.

In addition, we’d like to thank the following organizations for supporting our holiday efforts: C&S Companies, CXtec, Organic Valley, G&C Foods, News Channel 9/Bridge Street, CNY Central, YNN, B104.7, Sunny102, Tim Hortons and Great Northern Mall. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to provide assistance to more than 41,000 individuals, from infants to seniors. Whether it’s providing shelter to a family during the coldest night of the year, offering a teen an alternative to joining a gang or making sure that children and families have enough to eat, the Salvation Army is always there for those who need assistance, each and every day of the year.
